Maps for Mobile Viewing: A Map Overlay Feature with UI In Mind

How much do you hate it when you’re scrolling within an interactive map instead of scrolling down the page? As much as we love our mobile devices, sometimes it’s a real pain to use your phone instead of a computer when looking at maps. First world problems, we know, but we came up with something to solve this.

We’ve added an overlay prompt so your readers won’t accidentally scroll through the interactive Google Maps and get lost from the places you want to view. Excite! A simple call to action to View Map in Fullscreen immerses the viewer in the map experience without feeling like they’re fighting with the user interface. It looks like this:

And once you tap the screen, it presents you with a map carousel (in fullscreen, obviously) where you’ll be able to blissfully breeze through the locations and their details.

We think this map overlay feature is pretty special and thinking of a future with mobile (and user-friendliness) in mind. Don’t believe us? Check this blog post out on mobile to see this list in action.
