Product Recap: January
Time flies when you’re having fun. We can’t believe it’s only one month into the new year that we’ve updated our WordPress plugin and added some awesome advanced publishing options. Here are the highlights from January 2015.
WordPress plugin v2.0.2
We’re constantly working to make our product seamlessly integrated with your work flow. In January, we introduced the newest update to our WordPress plugin—v2.02. To update, head over to your WordPress dashboard, and select the Plugins page to search for Quietly. Check out the WordPress Plugin Directory and download the latest version from there, then you’ll be all up to date.
What’s new with our plugin? Now the embeds that inserted directly into a post (without being customized) default to your last known saved embed settings. Additional final slide customization options are added to the publishing options screen (more on that in a bit). And finally, we’ve made embed codes way shorter for your convenience.
Is this the first time you’re hearing about our WordPress plugin? Check out this post with a guide on how to get it up and running.
Advanced Publishing Options
It’s important to stay engaged with your audience and our final slide options are a reminder that all it takes are some simple and powerful call to actions. Customization is what the people want and is what the industry is heading towards. We played our part by adding some advanced publishing options for the final slide to keep your readers engaged, whether it be through social media, email marketing or recommending stories.
We improved how you can interact with these final slide options by creating a clean “Customize Final Slide” button right underneath your slideshow options.
From there, you’ll see the various customization options. You can now customize the final slide background image by searching Flickr or Bing or by uploading an image.
We’ve also expanded our social actions to include Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn in addition to Facebook. Ask your readers to follow you to continue engagement.
Finally, you can hand pick which recommended stories you want your audience to see (or just choose popular lists, to give them more of what they love). Simply enter a URL, approve the photo and you’re set. You can use this to group content via themes and themed pieces or settings.
